Dear Nyaka Friends and Family,

In the wake of the terrorist bombings in Kampala, Uganda, I have been making phone calls, texting, tweeting, and spending time on Facebook trying to make sure our staff, volunteers, family, and friends currently in Uganda are safe.

Thankfully, they are safe. Nyaka and Kutamba Schools were not affected because they are located far away from Kampala. One volunteer was at the Lugogo stadium, but fortunately he left at halftime, before the bombs blasted the whole stadium.

Regretfully, the number of people affected in the country keeps increasing. In this terrible and sad time, we would like to assure you that these barbaric terrorist attacks will not stop Nyaka's mission to bring good, peace-loving programs to the people of Uganda and help goodness fight evil.

Educating young people, providing healthcare, working with Grandmothers, and serving communities using Nyaka's holistic approach reduces the number of idle youth who are susceptible and target recruits of terrorists.  We thank you for keeping all affected families in your prayers and thoughts and we thank you for your continued support.

With peace,

Twesigye Jackson Kaguri
